Bariatric Eats

Let's talk about food.  Obviously, my eating has changed a lot over the past 15 months.  Right after having surgery you can barely eat, it's a struggle to just consume enough calories and liquids.  At this point I can eat pretty much anything.  Bread, rice and pasta are still difficult for me so I don't eat them very often.  I try to focus on protein, fruits and vegetables.

One of my favorite snacks is cucumbers topped with feta cheese.  I mix the feta with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Himalayan salt and some seasoning, trust me it's delicious.

I will make this often when I am working from home and add a piece of organic frozen fish, not the healthiest but an easy source of protein.  I can eat most of this but not all of it.

These are my current stats as of this morning.  I have lost a great deal of weight, my 15 year old son doesn't weigh as much as I have lost.  I don't know how I could have let myself get that big, I'm not even sure I felt that big but I was and I am grateful for this journey.

Me today!

Vertical Sleeve Gastronomy-VSG 15 Months Post Op

It's hard to believe I will be 15 months post Vertical Sleeve Gastronomy on April 28. This year has been amazing and life changing in ways I never really imagined. The mental part has been one of my biggest struggles and probably will continue to be.
I started this journey at 330 ish. I was 332 pounds on January 1, 2015. I was 328 pounds on January 14, 2015 the day I started my liquid diet and 314 pounds the day I had surgery. So I have lost a total of 146.6 pounds.
I've gone from a size 28 to on average a 14.

Today's weight. I was at 183.7 the other day, which is my lowest weight.

I had one of those nights when you can't sleep, laying in bed wonder what you want your life to look like. I thought about what will bring me more joy into my life and these are the things I decided to focus on...

1.  Focus on my food choices, more protein, fruits and vegetables and less sugar.

2.  Do the Couch to 5K and sign up for a 5K.

3.  Work on building and toning my arm and abdominal muscles.

4.  Blog at least 4 times a week. I need a creative outlet. It keeps me sane.
